Free Wi-Fi hotspots have been installed in public spaces in Murmansk
In Murmansk, there are free Wi-Fi hotspots available to residents and visitors of the city in the area of the monument to the victims of the intervention, in the Central Square, next to the monument to S. M. Kirov, on the territory of the fairs on Vorovskogo Street, as well as at its intersection with Pushkinskaya Street, in addition, two more hotspots are available in the area of Semenovskoye Lake - on the territory of the park and near the monument to the cat Semyon.
The throughput of data transmission channels is up to 100 Mbit / s, which ensures a comfortable Internet connection speed even with a large number of simultaneous connections from users. A seamless connection is used throughout the network coverage area: devices switch between 24 access points automatically.
To connect to Wi-Fi, the user just needs to select "Murmansk_wifi_free" from the list of available networks and go through simple authorization using SMS or the "Alpha ID" service.
"The work was carried out by Rostelecom together with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Murmansk Region, it became one of the first telecom operators to tell us about their readiness to resume work on organizing free wireless Internet in public spaces in Murmansk. Moreover, a Rostelecom hotline was launched for entrepreneurs and organizations at 8-800-200-43-11 so that companies in the region could promptly resolve issues related to wired Internet and Wi-Fi," said Elena Semenova, Minister of Digital Development of the Murmansk Region.
"Our company is an active participant in infrastructure transformations in the region. We plan to expand the free Wi-Fi network, cover popular public spaces in Murmansk and the region, so that northerners can freely use the Internet and feel comfortable and safe," said Olga Shangina, Director of the Murmansk branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
She said that the public Wi-Fi network has a content filtering system that automatically blocks access to phishing and malicious resources.
As a rule, the Wi-Fi network and wired Internet are not subject to temporary restrictions that are periodically imposed in the region based on the federal law "On Communications" to ensure security.
"The hotspots that have started working can become an alternative in the absence of mobile Internet. They are also listed on the free Wi-Fi map posted on the government website. Companies that are ready to provide northerners with free access to their Wi-Fi can contact the ministry by email so that we can list them on this map. Currently, it contains more than a hundred hotspots from all over the region," Elena Semenova emphasized.
For the convenience of northerners, free Wi-Fi hotspots are also listed on the map in the 2GIS application. You can find them by entering the phrases "Wi-Fi hotspots" or "free Wi-Fi" in the search.
Let us recall that temporary restrictions on access to the mobile Internet are being introduced in order to ensure security and protect public order in the Murmansk region.
