Today, Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with the CEO of SAFFARM LLC Divesh Kumar. Let us recall that in June, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Government of the Murmansk Region, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) and SAFFARM, in the presence of the Russian Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, signed a cooperation agreement, which provides for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex and a plant for active pharmaceutical ingredients.

"The Government of the Murmansk Region once again confirms its interest in the development of biotechnology in our region. Moreover, during the visit of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, we also discussed the topic of technology development, including scientific research with the participation of the Murmansk Arctic University. Therefore, the investment project you propose and everything connected with it, including the active involvement of our science, seems very promising to us, and we will provide comprehensive assistance in its implementation," noted Andrei Chibis.

General Director of SAFFARM LLC Divesh Kumar thanked the head of the region for his support and emphasized the importance of the project’s implementation for the Indian side.

“We are ready to move to the practical plane – at the moment, in cooperation with the relevant departments of the Government of the Murmansk Region, we are looking for the most convenient land plot for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex that would satisfy not only business but also environmental requirements,” said Divesh Kumar.

In August, SAFFARM LLC received the status of a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. In 2024-2027, it is planned to build a pharmaceutical complex in Murmansk consisting of three blocks with a total area of over 14 thousand square meters. The creation of a modern high-tech pharmaceutical production will satisfy the domestic demand for antibiotics, vaccines, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, including hormonal and oncology drugs. Import-substituting products will be supplied to public hospitals and pharmacies in Russia and the CIS countries. It is envisaged to implement the project in stages - over three years - with a capacity of over 1.3 billion units of drugs and 1.8 thousand tons per year of active pharmaceutical ingredients, with the possibility of further expansion to 6 thousand tons per year. The launch of the enterprise will provide employment for 280 northerners.
