On May 25, a delegation from the Republic of Belarus headed by Prime Minister of the Republic Roman Golovchenko arrived in the Murmansk Region on a working visit.

As part of the events in Murmansk, a working meeting of the Murmansk Region government team led by Governor Andrei Chibis
with the delegation of the Republic headed by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko was held. The head of the Murmansk city administration, Yuri Serdechkin, took part in the event.

— All previously reached agreements on cooperation with the Republic of Belarus are being implemented in full. Thus, during a working meeting with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, a decision was made to transship Belarusian cargo. Currently, the regional government, together with Belaruskali, is implementing a project to create a terminal for transshipment of potash fertilizers in the Kola Arctic, with a capacity of 5-7 million tons per year. The mechanism is working, we have thoroughly and clearly studied the territories where a large-scale project to build a terminal can be implemented in the future, — said Andrei Chibis.

In addition to the working meeting, a round table with representatives of large businesses was held. The parties discussed issues of cooperation in various areas. Cooperation in the supply of passenger transport continues. Today, more than two hundred units of public transport of Belarusian production operate on the streets of the Murmansk region.

“We have a serious program to replace and increase their numbers,” the governor said.

In 2022, JSC Electrotransport signed contracts with JSC MAZ for the supply of buses and trolleybuses; in 2023, it is planned to purchase 15 Belkommunmash trolleybuses. Work was also carried out to organize direct flights on the Murmansk-Minsk-Murmansk route. Flights will be operated on Tuesdays. Travel time is 2 hours 40 minutes. The first flight took place on May 23.

— Another direction is the supply of elevator equipment. We have big plans, we are ready to take part in equipping the new terminal of the Murmansk Airport, — noted the Prime Minister of Belarus.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed other pressing issues of developing cooperation between the Kola Arctic and the Republic of Belarus. Such interaction is especially important for Murmansk. Since 2014, the regional center and the city of Minsk have had twinning relations, which are constantly developing.

— In 2022, the parks of the MMBU "Road Management" and
JSC "Electrotransport" were replenished with new equipment of Belarusian production. This year, our young talents visited our sister city Minsk with a cultural program.
And on May 23, a direct flight between Murmansk and Minsk was resumed, - noted Yuri Serdechkin. - We continue to establish trade and economic ties.
