The Murmansk Region and the Chinese company New New Shipping Line signed an agreement to develop container shipping through the port of Murmansk
Today in Moscow, Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis held a business meeting with Fan Yuxin, Chairman of the Chinese shipping company New New Shipping Line, and Ke Jin, CEO.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding, which opens new prospects for the development of container cargo transportation through the port of Murmansk.
This step follows negotiations during which the parties discussed in detail Murmansk's unique logistics potential as an ice-free port and a key hub in the Arctic. The signed document specifies the areas of partnership and focuses on two key objectives: organizing regular container shipping and implementing joint projects to develop port infrastructure to increase cargo turnover.
To achieve these goals, the Murmansk Region government is committed to creating the necessary conditions for uninterrupted cargo flows. Furthermore, the region will provide comprehensive project support to all government agencies and resource suppliers.
"I am confident that this cooperation will not only give new impetus to the development of the port of Murmansk but also strengthen the role of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, including the Northern Sea Route, as a key route for international trade and economic cooperation between countries," noted Governor Andrei Chibis.
For its part, New New Shipping Line confirmed its readiness to ensure regular calls of its vessels to the port of Murmansk and actively promote its capabilities for maritime container shipping.
