A new record: 464,000 tourists visited the Murmansk region in the first eight months of 2025.
The presentation of the fall-winter tourist season in the Murmansk Region was one of the topics of the operational meeting chaired today by First Deputy Governor Oksana Demchenko. As the Vice Governor noted, in the first eight months of 2025, tourist flow to the region increased by 10 percent, reaching 464,000.
"The Murmansk Region is the closest and most accessible Arctic for travelers: every third tourist choosing a northern destination in our country comes here," emphasized Oksana Demchenko. "The growing interest in Arctic territories is, of course, the result of developing infrastructure, the development of new tourism products, and the improvement of logistical accessibility. This work is being carried out, among other things, as part of the governor's strategic development plan for the region, 'Live in the North!'"
As the First Deputy Governor noted, the most popular tourist destinations for the coming winter in the Murmansk Region are Murmansk, Khibiny, Teriberka, and the increasingly popular Tersky Coast.
Oksana Demchenko also emphasized that this year, the Murmansk Region plans to be the first in the country to open the ski season, on the northern slope of the Bolshoy Vudyavr resort. A total of 11 ski resorts in the region will open their doors to guests.
Direct flights to Kaliningrad from Khibiny Airport will also resume this winter season. The first passengers will depart on November 23rd of this year. Regular flights will operate twice a week—on Fridays and Sundays—with an additional flight scheduled for December 30th, 2025.
Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region Alexandra Kondaurova spoke in more detail about the development of the region's tourism resources in the upcoming season.
