MICE industry

On the sidelines of the international MEET GLOBAL MICE CONGRESS in Moscow, Marta Govor, Minister of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of the Murmansk Region, presented the region's business, convention, and exhibition opportunities. MEET GLOBAL MICE CONGRESS is an annual gathering place for MICE industry professionals to share experiences, discuss current issues, and identify new opportunities for business development. This year, the congress is being held in the Russian capital for the third time and brought together over 2,500 experts from Russian regions and 34 countries.

Marta Govor discussed the Murmansk Region's infrastructure capabilities, key multifunctional venues, and the most popular tourist activities. Today, the region's tourism infrastructure includes 221 shared accommodations of varying comfort levels, including 50 recreation centers and 8 glamping sites. This makes it possible to accommodate both small groups of up to 100 people and large conferences and forums for over 1,000 people. The Kola Arctic tourism community offers a wide range of activities to complement business programs, regardless of the season.

"Experts note a trend toward increasing off-site corporate events, with the region's accessibility and sufficient number of high-quality accommodations often playing a decisive role. The Murmansk Region has the necessary infrastructure and extensive congress and exhibition opportunities, while the unique Arctic experience makes the region an ideal destination for incentive tours. And it's just 2.5 hours from Moscow and 1.5 hours from St. Petersburg," noted Marta Govor, emphasizing that the Murmansk Region is ready to host corporate events of any scale. This year, the International Arctic Forum "Arctic: Territory of Dialogue" was a key event in the region's business life. It brought together approximately 1,300 participants and media representatives from 21 countries, as well as approximately 230 representatives of Russian and international businesses from more than 110 companies. Starting in 2027, Murmansk will become a permanent forum venue.

Furthermore, a cooperation agreement on tourism between the Murmansk Region and Moscow was signed during the congress. It stipulates that the parties will continue to create favorable conditions for mutually increasing tourist flow. This includes further integration of the Murmansk Region's software products with the RUSSPASS travel planning service for Russia.

"By signing the agreement, we agreed not only to work together to increase mutual tourist flows but also to jointly develop international inbound tourism. We will do this, including through joint projects focused on foreign markets," commented Marta Govor.
