The "Capital of the Arctic" priority development area is 6 years old

On May 12, 2020, the Russian government decree established the first priority development area in the Arctic zone—the "Capital of the Arctic" priority development area. Over the years, the system has proven its effectiveness:
total investment exceeded 218 billion rubles;
2,700 new jobs were created;
and six residents are working within the priority development area, implementing strategic projects.
Flagship projects of the priority development area:
1. The Center for the Construction of Large-Tongue Offshore Structures (CLCOS) in Belokamenka. The center has already launched two liquefied natural gas plants. Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the first train of the project in June 2023.
2. The Lavna Port is a strategic transport and logistics hub. It was launched last year with the participation of the Russian President.
3. The Udarnik terminal is a key link on the Northern Sea Route for the transportation of bioresources. An automated freezer warehouse was commissioned there in February 2024.
"Murmansk is rightfully considered the capital of the Russian Arctic. The influx of investment, thanks in part to the preferential status of priority development areas, provides an opportunity for the active development of our economy," emphasized Governor Andrei Chibis.
