Andrey Chibis reported on new unique excursions in the Murmansk region
Preparations for the winter tourist season have begun in the Murmansk Region. This year, as Andrei Chibis said at the operational meeting, new unique excursions have been prepared for guests of the Kola Arctic.
Thus, a museum and exhibition complex has opened in the Valley of Glory - this is a place where history meets modern museum technologies. The memorial complex, according to the governor, is an object of patriotic tourism that attracts thousands of visitors.
"In the year of the 80th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazi troops in the Arctic, we made the Valley of Glory a year-round place to visit, with all the necessary infrastructure, with lighting, and lit the Eternal Flame there. And now, at any time, northerners and guests of our region can bow to the heroes of the war, learn how heroically our soldiers fought for Victory," the governor emphasized.
Among the new features of the 2024-2025 tourist season is a visit to the Kola Wind Power Plant (WPP). During the tour, visitors will be able to see how huge wind turbines work and learn about the process of obtaining environmentally friendly energy.
"The Kola Wind Farm is an open educational platform where you can learn about the future of energy and high technologies. It would be great if the wind turbines were illuminated, we need to discuss this issue with the owner. Then it would be a unique sight, especially during the polar night. I ask you to work on this task with your colleagues," said the head of the region.
Governor Andrei Chibis noted that in the context of external economic challenges and sanctions pressure, tourism is becoming one of the most important areas supporting the region's economy, and announced statistics. In 2023, the Murmansk Region set a record: according to official data, more than 670 thousand tourists visited our region, which was the highest figure in history.
"Over the past five years, tourism has brought 2.4 billion rubles to the regional budget, which emphasizes its importance for the economy," said Andrei Chibis.
Support for the tourism industry contributed to the development of local business. Thus, in recent years, more than 400 million rubles have been allocated for the implementation of 135 projects in the tourism sector. New facilities have been built using modern technologies, which makes the region's infrastructure not only more convenient, but also more environmentally friendly and attractive to tourists.
