The legendary Murmansk "seafarer" is actively modernized under the "Professionality" program: the Murmansk Maritime Rocket Shipyard named after I.I. Mesyatsev was inspected by Governor Andrei Chibis
Today, as part of a working visit, Governor Andrei Chibis inspected new training laboratories at the Murmansk Marine Fishing College named after I.I. Mesyatsev, updated as part of the implementation of the Professionalism project with the participation of industrial partners - the Antey Sever company.
"We are actively modernizing the education system. Because we need professional personnel for our projects, for our enterprises that operate in the Murmansk Region, and in the Russian Arctic as a whole. We have finally managed to reverse the trend here - unfortunately, nothing has happened here for 30 years, the state since the Soviet Union has deteriorated. Last summer, I specially brought here the Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin, now Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration. This is a federal college, a legendary "maritime school". There is a huge need for these marine specialists, including among our fishermen. Through joint efforts, the college was included in the "Professionalism" program. I asked the Antey company, the world's largest crab fisherman, which has been working with us for 4 years, to become partners of this university, and thanks to federal support, company support and regional funds, an entire block here - 17 laboratories - have become very modern, new. The equipment reflects the Barents Sea, the Kola Bay. The guys are fully immersed in their specialty. The college modernization must be continued, like all the others, there is still a lot of work to do, but it is important that these changes are in place," the governor emphasized, noting that the demand for admission to the college has increased radically this year: students from 18 regions of our country have become students.
In total, 17 zones have been modernized and re-equipped for various types of work in the college. These include laboratories of materials science and technical mechanics, thermodynamics and hydraulics, electrical engineering and electronics, navigation and hydroacoustic devices, spaces, workshops and simulators for ensuring navigation safety, rigging operations and cargo placement, industrial fishing, refrigeration machines and equipment, aquatic bioresources and aquaculture, ship electrical installation and automation, operation of ship propulsion systems, navigational plotting of the ship's course, a metalworking and turning zone, operation of the global maritime distress communication system, realistic simulators for ship control and operation: navigation bridges No. 1, 2 and 3.
The total budget of the project was 150 million rubles, of which 100 million rubles was a federal subsidy, 35 million rubles was a contribution from the industrial partner, Antey Sever LLC, and 15 million rubles were funds from the Murmansk region budget.
"Special thanks to our partners - the company "Antey Sever". I really hope that the companies that have been working in the Murmansk region for a long time, the owners and managers of which came from this maritime school, will also help, like the company "Antey Sever". Because today education is fundamentally important," the head of the region noted.
Igor Artemenko, head of the I.I. Mesyatsev MMRK, noted that the “Professionality” project completely reboots the college: a deep modernization of the material and technical base and common spaces has been carried out and continues.
"The cadets will gain knowledge and skills on modern equipment - this is much more effective than before. Together with the industrial partner, we have also revised the educational programs to meet the interests of the employer. We will conclude target contracts with first-year students of the Arctic Fishing Cluster, this implies guaranteed employment in the company upon completion of training. Career guidance work with schoolchildren will also be carried out according to the new standards. Speaking about equipment, the cluster's infrastructure list includes more than 600 updated elements. And we are grateful to all the initiators and participants of the project for this opportunity," Igor Artemenko emphasized.
"We are a mining company, we are engaged in fishing and rapidly increasing our volume. At the moment, we already have 22 vessels. It is extremely important for us that our ships are staffed with good personnel, professionals who know their job. For us, this cooperation is a great opportunity to take a step towards this goal. Now we are signing 200 contracts for targeted training in 6 different specialties, including navigation, refrigeration plant mechanics, electromechanics and others. We attract the entire spectrum of personnel to our company. 196 people will study from 2025 and 213 people each year thereafter. We will provide the guys with the opportunity to do an internship on our vessels, to learn what the sea is already from the 2nd year. And then they will work for us," said Ivan Tretyakov, First Deputy General Director of Antey Sever.
