Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a plenary session during the Eastern Economic Forum. The head of state noted that it is necessary to develop universities in the Arctic, including in Murmansk.

"I propose to launch work on several more projects, namely, to build new university campuses. Such centers will have all the conditions for students to study, work, and live. Youth entrepreneurship platforms and business clubs will open. We will also develop universities in the Arctic. In addition to the already launched campus project in Arkhangelsk, a similar project will be added in Murmansk. Advanced engineering schools will also operate on the campuses. Their task is not only to train specialists for industry and agriculture, transport and services, for the use of artificial intelligence, but also to offer original solutions for serial implementation in management systems, the social sphere, and in economic sectors," Vladimir Putin said.

Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis emphasized that the emergence of a world-class campus in the capital of the Kola Arctic will increase the level of competitiveness and profitability of educational programs and the region's educational infrastructure. And due to this, it will ensure a high level of personnel training in accordance with economic demand.

"A modern infrastructure for the education and life of students will be created on the territory of the Murmansk Arctic University. Including a scientific and educational center for biotechnology and bioresource processing, a sports and fitness center, dormitories and additional classrooms. The university will expand its capacity to accept students to 11,600 people. This is an increase of almost two times. I thank the President of Russia and the federal government for supporting our application. This is a huge step for the development of higher education in the Murmansk region," emphasized Andrei Chibis.
