At a meeting of the Murmansk Region government, the results of the implementation of measures to create a comfortable urban environment in the region over the past five years were summed up.

During this time, the Urban Environment Quality Index, calculated by the Russian Ministry of Construction, increased by 35 points in the Kola Arctic, and the number of cities with an unfavorable urban environment decreased by more than 2 times.

Thanks to the national project and strategic plan “Living in the North”, courtyard areas adjacent to 995 houses were also improved in 27 municipalities of the region.

"Special attention during the improvement works in the Murmansk region is paid to the courtyards, which we strive to make convenient for local residents. In 2024, the works are planned in 66 territories in 17 municipalities," said Oksana Demchenko, First Deputy Governor of the Murmansk region.

Another priority task, which Governor Andrey Chibis focused on when presenting the updated strategic plan "Living in the North" is putting the asphalt pavement in the courtyards in order. Over the past five years, pothole repairs have been carried out in all municipalities in the region - on an area of more than 90 thousand square meters.

"This year, as part of pothole repairs in the territory of 20 municipalities, more than 400 driveways with a total area of over 74 thousand square meters will need to be repaired - this is a record volume of work. The areas to be repaired were chosen by the residents themselves through voting on the portal "Nash Sever". The northerners were offered proposals collected by municipalities with the participation of management companies and homeowners' associations," explained Maria Gavrilova.

To date, work has been completed on 132 roads in 14 municipalities.

"Colleagues, we all have a common task - to complete all the work being carried out during favorable weather conditions, without waiting for the rainy season. First of all, I appeal to the heads of municipal administrations in whose territory the events are taking place, this year the pace of implementation is better than in previous years, maintain this trend," Oksana Demchenko, First Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region, addressed the participants of the meeting.

Another area of improvement in which residents directly participate is the governor's program "In the North - Your Project". Over five years, 231 projects have appeared in the region within the framework of initiative budgeting.

In 2024, 151 initiative projects will be implemented in the Murmansk Region - these are 100 projects that won the competitive selection last year and 51 projects for the arrangement of children's and sports grounds as part of an additional competitive selection that took place in the first quarter. Work on 96 projects in 32 municipalities has already been completed.

The main areas of the governor's program remain: installation of children's and sports play complexes, landscaping of territories, repair of entrances and entrances of apartment buildings, as well as improvement of cultural, educational, physical education and sports facilities.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that voting for projects that will be implemented in 2025 is currently ongoing on the Nash Sever portal. I thank everyone who has already made their choice, and this is more than 18 thousand people, and I encourage others to join in,” said Maria Gavrilova.

You can vote for your favorite idea on “Our North” until September 15 inclusive.

Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region – Minister of Urban Development and Improvement of the Murmansk Region Maria Gavrilova noted that these indicators were achieved thanks to a comprehensive approach to improvement, as well as the involvement of proactive northerners in the implementation of projects.

"Over five years, 147 spaces have been improved in the region as part of the federal project "Formation of a comfortable urban environment". And one of the main tools for involving northerners in the transformation process is the All-Russian vote for the selection of improvement sites, since the start of which on the portal za.gorodsreda.ru, residents of the Murmansk region have voted more than 270 thousand times," emphasized Maria Gavrilova.

In addition, Maria Dmitrievna reported that 16 winning projects of the All-Russian competition of the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment have been implemented in the Murmansk region. In Kovdor and Polyarnye Zori, they have now begun to improve the winning projects of 2023, and three more territories of the region were recognized as winners this year - Monchegorsk, Polyarnye Zori and Kola received grants from the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation for the implementation of projects.

"It is important to ensure proper maintenance of the created public spaces, to work in a timely manner to eliminate breakdowns that, unfortunately, occur for reasons beyond our control, for example, due to vandalism. It is important to preserve the effect of the implemented events, and for this, there must be constant monitoring of the state of these public spaces on the ground," Oksana Demchenko summarized. Let us recall that in 2024, 7 public spaces in 6 municipalities are being improved in the Murmansk Region. The work has already been completed in two territories: the first stage of the "Walk of Fame for Participants of the SVO" has been completed in Polyarny, and work on the stairs on Misyakov Street has been completed in Murmashi.
