AI

Over the past few years, Russia has seen a breakthrough in the development of the digital economy. By 2030, the country has an ambitious goal - to become one of the leaders setting their own trends in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), to ensure the implementation and application of AI in all key sectors of the economy and the social sphere.

The Murmansk region has been implementing IT solutions and artificial intelligence tools for several years now.

In 2019, the Smart Region project was launched, which became the basis for the development strategy of the Kola Arctic in terms of digitalization. Based on the Smart City standard, it combined the digitalization of such industries as city management, housing and communal services, transport, security, urban environment and tourism.

“If we talk about the results of using AI using specific information systems as an example, I would like to highlight the Public Video Surveillance and Analytics System, the Forest Guard system, as well as the neural network video analytics monitoring system for the state of the road network, and services implemented at industrial enterprises in the region,” said Deputy Governor and Minister of Digital Development of the Murmansk Region Elena Semenova.

Let us recall that digital transformation was first singled out as a separate national goal by Russian President Vladimir Putin back in the summer of 2020.

Despite the sanctions pressure, the IT industry developed at an accelerated pace - its contribution to GDP by the end of the year reached almost 2%, and the volume of products and services sold increased by 2.5 times and amounted to 3.1 trillion rubles.
