Murmansk Region entered the list of leaders in the ranking of sustainable development of tourism and hospitality industry in the regions of the Russian Federation
The results of the ranking of the subjects of the Russian Federation by the level of sustainable tourism development for 2023 are presented.
In 2022, the Murmansk Region was included in the subgroup "Developed Regions" and took 11th place in the ranking among all subjects of the Russian Federation. In 2023, the region raised its level, becoming one of the leaders: in the subgroup "Advanced Regions", the Kola Arctic is second only to St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan, Moscow and the Tyumen Region.
The ranking is a ranking of Russian regions based on indicators that assess the level of sustainability of the hospitality industry and the integration of environmental friendliness into the tourism industry management system. The ranking results have been summarized since 2022 as part of the project to introduce mechanisms for sustainable development of tourism and the hospitality industry in the regions of the Russian Federation, implemented with the support of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development, the Russian Geographical Society, the Sustainable Tourism Committee of the CIS Business Center for Economic Development, the Sustainable Tourism Scientific and Educational Consortium, and the National Union of the Hospitality Industry.
