For the Murmansk Region, the issue of logistics and export is one of the key priorities. Work continues on the creation and modernization of the infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, which is a strategic transport corridor of national and global importance. At the plenary session within the framework of the Day of the Murmansk Region at the exhibition "Russia", Governor Andrei Chibis presented the logistics potential of the region. The head of the region noted that 2023 has become a time of breakthrough events in the development of the Northern Sea Route.

"The most important stage of the implementation of the Murmansk transport hub has been completed: thanks to the support of President Vladimir Putin and the Government, the working movement on the new railway line has started. This is an important event for the region. We fought for funding, completion of the project, and in less than a year, more work has been done than in the entire past period. If today the city of Murmansk, its eastern part, works as a port infrastructure, then we essentially provide the western part with a railway," the governor said.

According to Andrey Chibis, thanks to the implementation and opening of the MTU, cargo turnover will increase to 110 million tons per year.

In less than a year, almost 49.7 km of railway track was laid, 137 artificial structures were built, including 11 bridges and overpasses. The bridge across the Tuloma River consists of eight span structures and two coastal overpasses with a total length of 1,313 meters.

"We have the necessary financial resources to provide energy to projects and ports on the western shore of the Kola Bay. Thanks to the President's decision regarding the mechanism for the infrastructure menu, we laid a water pipeline along the bottom of the Kola Bay to provide water supply infrastructure to all facilities on the western shore. Today, in the presence of Alexey Olegovich, an agreement was signed with Rusat Cargo to create a new container terminal on the western shore of the Kola Bay," Andrey Chibis emphasized.

As the governor noted, the number of modern and powerful icebreakers that ensure the operation of the Northern Sea Route is expanding, and the volume of the cargo base is increasing.

"This is also a unique project of the NOVATEK company, which is building high-tech floating plants for liquefying natural gas from scratch. In the summer, President Vladimir Putin personally launched the shipment of the first platform from the Central Shipbuilding Complex of the Murmansk Region, LNG - one of the most important cargoes. And of course, this is the President's decision on gasification of the Murmansk Region, which will turn the region's economy upside down, provide an opportunity to process the raw materials that we extract, new jobs, investments, tax returns. And this is the LNG processing project - all these prospects make our region a real stronghold, a flagship of the Arctic development, which is moving forward both in terms of the economy and in terms of protecting our borders. I will note that 80 percent of the servicemen of the Sovereign Fleet are on our territory," the head of the region emphasized.

"Based on the TSSKMS, we essentially created a competence center for the LNG industry of the Russian Federation. No one has done this before us. At the TSSKMS in Murmansk, it is possible to develop not only the production of platforms, but also to create specialists, train people, launch some new chains, related industries. This is, indeed, a comprehensive work that has been done. Now we are looking at future projects with great optimism," said Petr Oborin, Director of NOVATEK-Murmansk LLC.

The Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov, emphasized that the region has a special mission in the Russian Arctic:

"Our country is a northern power, Russia is a northern country. And therefore these words, this youth slogan "Live in the North" - it, of course, applies not only to the Murmansk Region, it applies to the entire Russian Arctic, the Far East, it applies to our country. The Murmansk Region is the concentrate of the Russian Arctic. Here we implement world-class projects, the Northern Sea Route begins here, miracles really happen here. Thanks to our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who pays great personal attention to the development of the Far East, the Russian Arctic and the Murmansk Region itself. We will continue to invest all our efforts to ensure that the Murmansk Region continues to be the flagship of the Arctic development," said Alexey Chekunkov.
